Working late at night or don’t want to put a halt to your netflix marathon? Don’t let you stomach growl and simply dial in to salvage those cravings with some delicious cheesy pasta or a fulfilling burger with Captain Grub.
Offering a great selection of burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, shakes and more, Captain Grub operates as a delivery only outlet and is the place where you’d want to order some delicious American fast food from. Satiating those hunger pangs from 7 in the evening to 4 in the morning, Captain Grub currently has its base kitchen in 6 different locations across Delhi NCR, to ensure that the grub reaches out to you anywhere, anytime.
Delivering in neatly packaged individual boxes, my meal from Captain Grub turned out to be much better than what I had anticipated. Burgers so big that you’d want to share, the crispy butterfly chicken burger had a giant piece of crumb fried chicken breast over lettuce, jalapeños and gherkins. Slithered with chipotle and accompanied with masala fries, this was devoured along with a thick and chocolatey oreo shake, that is a steal deal at Rs. 199. The peanut butter blast shake tasted equally good, but certainly couldn’t complete with chocolate oreo shake.
Even though I am not a huge fan of minced meat burgers, their Captain’s love burger was an absolute winner with all the crispy bacon strips, cheese and a sunny side up. The honey lime chicken wings, though a tad bit oily, had a nice citrusy kick to them and was a great departure from the typical bbq chicken wings. The chilli cottage cheese steak consisted of a huge chunk of paneer, cooked over a griddle, slithered with a super spicy tomato gravy(that was similar to the gravy of khadai paneer), served along with pesto sauce and garlic rice. While I wouldn’t pass it as an international cuisine dish, I would order it again nonetheless, simply because it tasted great.
One thing that a lot of delivery outlets miss on their menu is the most important part of a meal, the desserts. Fortunately, captain grub is not one of them and has some rather great options to choose from. The chocolate and caramel jar had a beautiful medley of textures and flavours with the chocolate ganache, crumble, salted caramel, chocolate cake and whipped cream. While this was great, the chocoholic in me would anyday opt for the chocoholics delight, which was a simple piece of sinful dark chocolate cake.
Confession: The meal from Captain Grub turned out to be rather good. The prices may appear to be on a higher side but the quantity and quality of the dish make up for it. As a suggestion, I reckon it will be better if they serve fries in a separate carton instead of putting them in the box along with the burger, which makes them soggy.
