Scintillating aromas, melange of spices and bag-full of flavours, the kitchens of the nawabs gave us some unforgettable Awadhi delicacies, that are too hard to resist.
Be it the melt-in-mouth kebabs, falling-off-the-bone meat in nihari or the aromatic kache ghost ki biryani, Awadhi food is something that should be overlooked.
If you are craving to devour some delicious and authentic Awadhi dishes, then Edesia at Crowne Plaza is the place to go. The prime restaurant at Crowne Plaza, Okhla, Edesia presents Dawat-e-Awadhi, an awadhi food extravaganza, that will run till 30th November.
Start you meal with a bowl of heart-warming paya shorba or jump onto some delicious kebabs. While the galauti is something that can be skipped, the live counters, offering some delicious tawa grills, mutton raan and tandoori pomfret should not be missed at any cost.
The mains will leave you spoiled for choices, but their are some dishes that you cannot afford to overlook. Nalli nihari, karela murg, paneer-e-mumtaaz and kache ghost ki biryani were the highlights of my dinner at Edesia a few days back. Unfortunately the dal makhni was a bit on the sweeter side and thus, turned out to be a dampener.
No meal can conclude without some good desserts and Edesia ensures that no one goes unsatisfied. From custards to cakes to brownies, there is something for every palate. The awadhi specialities include shahi tukda, kesari phirni and seviyan. But the hot and crisp jalebis were what stole my heart and helped me end my meal on a deliciously sweet note!
