No matter the amount of calories, a little sweet escape is something that all of us deserve on a morning which overlooks a mundane day or after a tiring day filled with commotion and humdrum. The aroma of freshly baked goodies is enough to uplift any mood and get one going. Right?

If you’re like me who cannot resist the temptation of indulging into some sweet surprises then rejoice, because this post is for you!

A haven for fresh breads, viennoiseries, sandwiches and decadent sweet treats, The Artful Baker, a well-known patisserie and boulangerie by Lite Bite Foods, is setting benchmarks with its premium quality offerings.

After having shut its operations in Noida and Saket, The Artful Baker has arrived right next door, in Vasant Vihar and I couldn’t have been happier. Hence, last Sunday, I decided to let go off of the customary Sunday brunch and instead went to this small little bakery to binge.

Hunting for the best almond croissant in Delhi, I decided to give this favourite of mine a try here and wasn’t disappointed a bit. While it may not be the best that I’ve had, the flaky and fluffy viennoiserie pastry was filled with mildly sweet almond paste and was generously topped with roasted almond slivers. This was demolished with a glass of strong cold coffee which set my palate ready for the desserts.

In the hunt for some more caffeine, I opted for the Brazillienne pastry, which consisted of a velvety smooth mousse of coffee and caramel. The sweetness to the pastry was being imparted by the caramel mousse and is the perfect dessert for those who don’t like an explosion of sweetness.

It’s difficult to for me to satiate my dessert cravings without chocolate. Hence, I decided to try the gluten-free layered chocolate cake slice that I would love to have with a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream, because of its dense texture.

On recommendation, I concluded my sojourn with the blueberry white chocolate cheesecake. A crisp base topped with white chocolate cheesecake that had hidden layers of moist almond cake and blueberries. While I was happy with the recommendation, the only qualm that I had was that the flavour of the cheese used i.e. either cream cheese or mascarpone was getting lost, which somehow took away the essence of a cheesecake.

Confession: Overall, my experience at The Artful Baker turned out to be great and I would definitely come back to try the other offerings. The sandwiches, quiche and their signature cruffin have been added to my list now!
