Think of freshly made and absolutely seductive burrata cheese, fluffy pillows of gnocchi tossed with fresh basil pesto, perfectly cooked lamb chop with a crispy exterior, topped with parma ham or just a heartwarming thin crust pizza sprinkled generously with cheese along with a glass (or five) of wine.
Yes. I am talking about the beloved Italian food that we Indians are totally obsessed with.

If you’re in a look out for some hearty Italian grub, then look no further, as K3, the multi-cuisine restaurant at JW Mariott, has laid out an array of drool-inducing food from the boot-shaped peninsula in Europe, Italy.

Bringing the Taste of Liguria, right here in Delhi, Chef Alessio Banchero from Genoa is all set to rustle up some authentic Italian delicacies, some of the recipes of which have been passed on in his family over generations. Hence, be assured that his food will take your palate on a gastronomical journey to Italy.
I knew I’d have a great evening the moment I saw chef cooking mozzarella to make fresh burrata. The heated and elastic cheese was stuffed with creamy mozzarella, dipped in cold water to ensure that it wasn’t leaking, was taken out and served with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. I paired it with salsa verde, sundried tomato pesto and grilled melanzane, and was in for a treat. For the ongoing festival, the Chef has kept a refreshing and simple baby octopus and potato salad, that is native to his place of origin.
The heartwarming polenta ai funghi had a beautiful tone of truffle oil, which helped to elevate this rather simple dish. The juicy polpette di pollo della nonna or chicken meatballs Grandma’s style were slithered in a tomato basil sauce, which further accentuated the flavours. The plump and pillowy gnocchi, tossed with fresh basil pesto and extra virgin olive oil was an elegant dish that I paired with a glass of well-balanced Dr. Loosen Riesling 2015. However, it’ll have to be the Costine d’Agnello  alla valdostana or lamb chop that I’d bet my money on. Crunchy crumb crusted lamb topped with parma ham and cheese, paired with grilled peppers and zucchini. Tasted so good, that a single helping of this turned out to be inadequate.
And that’s not where it ends, there is an entire kitchen dedicated to satiate all your Italian-food cravings and of course, you’ll have the ever smiling Chef Alessio at your disposal, to cook up one of your favourites.
With less than a week to go for the festival to end, go and get your Italian food fix before 15th October at K3.
