Who wouldn’t wish to indulge in some delicious lunch?
After working for a while, it becomes essential to take a break and enjoy a wholesome meal to get the energy to work for the remaining half of the day. But if you’re like me and feel tired or lazy after a heavy meal, then this post is for you!

Sorrento, the award-winning Italian restaurant at Shangri-La brings to its patrons, Pranzo Eccellente, a super lunch prepared with freshest of ingredients, offering classic Italian dishes, that make one feel satisfied and not lethargic! The 4-course meal comprises of salads, pastas, pizzas or mains and their in-house gelato and is priced at just Rs. 1500++ per person.

Start your meal with a light and refreshing salad that is perfect to whet your appetite for the delicious courses to follow. After spotting bacon crackers in the Caesar salad, there was no looking around. A sous-vide egg sitting atop crunchy romaine lettuce along with crunch elements of the garlic toast of bacon crackers made it a texturally balanced salad.

The drool-inducing options in the pastas and mains made it difficult for me to pick a favourite. But after much deliberation, I decided settled down with the Linguine that was tossed in lots of extra virgin olive oil, garlic, chilli, baby spinach and prawns. The simplicity of the flavours is what made me fall in love with the dish. For the mains, it’s best to go in for the thin crust wood fired pizza with your choice of toppings. For me, pizza is incomplete without pepperoni and hence, without further ado, it was ordered and devoured in no time.

To conclude the meal on a sweet note, one can choose from their selection of homemade gelatos that include Belgian chocolate, salted caramel, vanilla beans et al. Though I am sure that all of them taste excellent, I’d recommend the cream cheese gelato, that even though sounds unusual, has a beautiful mellow undertone of cream cheese, with the perfect balance of sweet and savoury, that is perfect to satiate any cheese-lover to the fullest.

Confession: Overall, the power lunch introduced by Sorrento is a great way to take an escape on a working day, to relish some delicious Italian delicacies, without burning a hole in your pocket, and without having the guilt of having eaten too much that would have pushed the nap button otherwise. The swift and attentive service is just the cherry on the cake that one requires on a working day.
