Think flaky viennoiseries, fluffy and sweet macarons, deeply indulgent cheesecakes and addictive eclairs. There isn’t something quite like the enchanting whiff of freshly baked goodies, right?
And if you, too, feel weak in the knees for when you think of the drool-worthy offerings in a bakery, then you’re in for a treat.
A haven for those who hold bakeries at supreme, Paul, the popular French cafe chain, had opened its gates in Gurgaon a couple of months back and has taken the crowd by a storm. With a palatable European menu at disposal, Paul also boasts of an incredible bakery that has myriad options to choose from, thus, leaving no patron unsatisfied.

The menu, featuring soups and salads, sandwiches and burgers to pastas and pizzas, was definitely enticing, but my penchant for everything baked saw me standing at the counter, staring at the magnificent cornucopia of breads and cakes and pastries and tarts. I gave in to my temptations and was glad that I did.
Offering the best of both worlds, cheese and cake, the New York Cheesecake, made with Philadelphia cream cheese, having a mellow undertone of vanilla hit the right chord. In macarons, Paul offers 4 varieties: chocolate, pistachio, vanilla, and raspberry. The big macarons might be a little overwhelming, but their mini counterparts would save the day. The raspberry one, a big hit for me.

The quality of ingredients used in the pastries did speak volumes, making something as common as a black forest pastry, stand out. Giving paramount importance to using French butter and flour alongside banking upon Callebaut for premium chocolate, the Fleur de lys, consisting of dark chocolate mousse and chocolate sponge, would be a winner for every choco-holic.

The piece de resistance, however, would be the almond croissant. Though there are multiple bakeries in Delhi NCR offering this French masterpiece, I haven’t been able to find the perfect almond croissant that I’ve always dreamt of. But this was until I dined at Paul. Worlds would fall short to describe how perfect it was. The use of almond cream, instead of using just almond frangipane, made all the difference. Needless to say, a must have.
Overall, everything that I had turned out to a treat to the eyes and to the palate.
Though you might think about why I gave it a 4/5, well…I do have to dwell into the beautiful European spread that the menu has to offer, to give a final verdict!
